Top 5 Products To Protect Your Skin This Winter

Vida With Christie

Winter is ROUGH on my skin. Consistently, every year my skin changes as the colder months come around. I feel this change in my lips first as they start to get a tad dry and then it spreads to my skin. As a result, I try to stay a step ahead of the effects that winter may have with some of my most trusted products. I’ve gathered my picks for the top 5 items to protect your skin this winter.

Protect Your Skin With These Products

Vichy Pureté Thermale One Step Milk Cleanser 3-in-1

This is one of my favourite products of all time, no matter what the weather! However, I particularly love it during winter as it cleanses, tones and removes makeup without any harsh results or residues. The Vichy Pureté Thermale One Step Milk Cleanser 3-in-1 leaves my skin feeling silky soft and is so incredibly gentle too. As it is so gentle it doesn’t strip my skin of essential oils that I need in order to keep moisture locked in.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

I started using the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream early in 2018 and I have fallen in love with the hydrating and non -greasy formula. It is water based so it melts right into my skin, and I find this is particularly essential as it doesn’t block my pores. The level of moisture in this cream has in fact helped with my acne as in the winter my dry skin overcompensates for the lack of moisture by producing excess oil. However, because this cream truly moisturises my skin, but pores are no longer getting blocked with gunk and oil either.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy

This is one of those products that I have multiples of because it is a must-have! I have one in the office and another at home. I discovered the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy in a First Aid Beauty holiday set that I purchased a few years ago, and ever since then I keep going back for more. I don’t tend to use this in the summer as it is on the thicker side, which is why it works so well to moisturise your lips in the winter. It has the right touch of mintyness too.

A tip I recommend all year around for your lips, but in particular during the winter, is to dry brush them. I use my toothbrush to brush out all the dry skin and exfoliate my lips. This works wonders for keeping your lips smooth and flake free, and is especially helpful prior to wearing matte lipsticks.

Nivea Cocoa Butter Body Cream

I have been a forever fan of Nivea, literally since I was a little girl and would watch my grandma put on their original formula on her face every morning and night. These are little memories that stay with you forever! This is why Nivea is a brand I truly trust. The Nivea Cocoa Butter Body Cream is a god sent product! MY legs get super dry in the winter, as well as my elbows and feet, so I layer this cream on right after a shower to ensure I lock in as much moisture as possible. This is a thicker formula, hence the cocoa butter, so I find it is best used right before bed time. Without a doubt, this keeps my skin soft and prevents my knees and elbows from getting ashy, which makes it a big life saver!

In case you are looking for a lighter formula, that you can use in the AM but is just as moisturising on the skin, the Nivea Nourishing Care Cream is a true winner. This non-greasy formula leaves your skin feeling silky soft, and is a great option if you’re not a fan of a thicker cream.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Touch Hand Cream

This is another product I keep multiples of, one at the office and another one in my backpack. The Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Touch Hand Cream is my favourite as it smells so deliciously, keeps my hands super soft and, most importantly of all, does not leave my skin greasy and slippery. This is essential, specially at work as I want to be able to apply it and not have my hands be out of service for the next however many minutes.

We’ve covered face, body, hands and lips with my recommendations for the top 5 products to protect your skin this winter. I hope you love and appreciate these products as much as I do. If you decide to try them out, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
